Heading up and/or joining committees is a great way to get involved at the school and meet fabulous parents. Each committee will be provided with easy-to-follow event/activity outlines, dates, times, locations and contact information.
Here are a few of the events that are held yearly. Please consider attending a PSO meeting to find out more and how you can help.
Middle and High School event: A committee will be given a budget which will be used for decorations, drinks, and treats. Collecting money, permission slips, dance tickets, the DJ, and the chaperones will be taken care of by the school.
Archway & Prep Movie Nights
A committee of 2-3 parents will select a movie from a pre-approved list and create a flyer inviting students and parents to the Commons or grass field. Set up drinks and/or snacks in the Commons or grass field the night of the movie, run the movie on the school laptop or hire the pop up screen company, and cleanup at the end.
Help organize collection and distribution of slices of pie for this easy, fun event in the Commons.
Harkins Vouchers & Summer Movie Tickets
The committee will use the flyer from Harkins and update last year’s order forms to collect cash and checks from parents, will keep track of the orders, get a check from the PSO treasurer to purchase the vouchers (November) and tickets (March), and hand everything out to parents and/or students.
- Teacher – Organize a smoothie cart or catered lunch for teachers a couple of times during the year.
- Student Events – Organize hot chocolate and cookies for students after second quarter. Organize Ice Cream Truck to come on the last day of school.
Prep Harkins Theatre Night (TBD)
The committee will interact with the headmaster to select an appropriate movie, coordinate with Harkins on theatre rental, create a flyer for ticket purchases, and collect money for the event. They will hand the tickets out to the students prior to the event, and possibly be a chaperone the night of the event.
Teacher Appreciation (TA) Week (May)
A group of 4-6 parents will collect food donations and plan a fun weeks worth of treats for the teachers and staff.
TA Week Door Decorating
A group of individuals will be given a pre-set budget of items to craft fun, appreciation signs for the week of teacher appreciation working with the TA Committee head on the theme. The Sunday before TA Week, each Archway room parent will hang door decorations for Archway classrooms and committee members will support hanging the Prep signs.
All grades: Individuals will be responsible for relaying information via email to classes occasionally. You will also help facilitate a group outing suggested by PSO Board and plan a treat for the teacher(s) one day each month, similar to the monthly teacher luncheons. In addition, you will be asked to help the teacher in any day-to-day needs he/she has.
Either the Senior Class Trip fundraising committee or the PSO Board will work with the headmasters to plan an outing for our families. Coordination will happen with the restaurant/place of business and our school. Flyers will need to be made to advertise the event, and the PSO Board will help you in promoting it.
